BagoSphere and the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) are teaming up again for a round of training classes in Manila after a successful pilot last year. BagoSphere and ACED also partner with InvestEd, a social enterprise that provides marginalized Filipino college students the opportunity to complete their college education through their tuition loan program payable only after graduation.

BagoSphere, a Negros-based social enterprise, is a provider of short-term, career-focused training programs for disconnected youth who face a range of barriers to employment. ACED is Ateneo’s arm that aims to close the poverty gaps in education by providing more opportunities through various projects and partnerships.

Since January 2013, BagoSphere has graduated over 1,300 graduates, of which 85% have been hired. In 2017, BagoSphere and ACED held its first class with a total of 12 students. All 12 graduated with 11 of them immediately employed at business process outsourcing (BPO) companies within 30 days after graduation.

The team aims to train 25 individuals this October at the Ateneo de Manila campus with BagoSphere’s Changemaker Program, an eight-week training program that develops the different competencies needed for the youth to secure employment and launch transformational careers. The Changemaker Program includes topics on job-specific skills, employability skills, job and career readiness, and financial literacy, delivered through a combination of classroom-based training, online learning, and real life activities. Students will be assessed by BagoSphere then endorsed to InvestEd for their student loan application.

Interested applicants may visit the ACED Facebook page to apply to the program.
